MINI
The MINI is a B-segment car
produced since 2001 by BMW. Its retro design created by the American designer
Frank Stephenson is inspired by the original Mini, which was launched on the
market in 1959. The new MINI is not sold under the Mini brand, but
independently along with the Mini Countryman, and is manufactured in Oxford,
England. The prototype was presented to the public at the Paris Motor Show in
1999. The re-styling of the MINI was presented to the public in November 2006,
which in addition to aesthetic changes meant a replacement of all engines and
improvements in passive safety.
While the previous line received
25 points and four stars in the adult protection test in Euro NCAP crashes, the
new range was awarded with thirty-three points and five stars, currently the
second shortest tourism to receive the latter after the called Fiat 500.

The MINI began to be manufactured
with three-door hatchback and two-door convertible bodies, both with four
seats. Unlike the original Mini, the current hatchback has a traditional
tailgate, which opens upwards and includes the rear window. A familiar variant
was seen as a prototype at the Frankfurt and Tokyo saloons of 2006 and Detroit
2007, and then It was officially presented at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show
with the name "MINI Clubman" and put on sale that year. It is a
five-seater that has a side door on the left side and two on the right side,
and the tailgate is two pivoting doors, as in a van.
The MINI certificate of
conformity is available for all MINI manufactured by the European market.
Like the original Mini, it has a
front four-cylinder front-wheel drive engine. According to the engine and the
year, it exists with manual gearboxes of five or six relations and six-speed
automatic. Initially, the engines were a 1.6-liter displacement gasoline and
four valves per cylinder, Chrysler origin, in atmospheric variants of 90 hp
maximum power "MINI One" and 115 hp "MINI Cooper" and with
volumetric compressor and 163 hp "MINI Cooper S" '; 170 CV since
2004. In Portugal and Greece, the "MINI One" had a displacement
reduced to 1.4 liters and a maximum power of 75 HP, to receive tax benefits.
The Diesel "MINI One D" was a 1.4-liter direct-injection direct
injection of Toyota origin, initially with fixed geometry turbocharger and 75
HP, and then variable geometry and 88 HP. After the reestilización of 2007, all
engines they were replaced. The gasoline was developed jointly by BMW and the
PSA Peugeot-Citroën Group, and has four valves per cylinder and variable distribution.
The "MINI One"
incorporates a 1.4-liter engine with indirect injection and 75 or 95 HP. The
"MINI Cooper" and "MINI Cooper S" have a 1.6 liter, the
first with indirect injection and 120 hp, and the second with direct injection,
turbocharger and 184 hp. The Diesel is of PSA Peugeot-Citroën origin and has
1.6 liters of displacement, common-rail direct injection, intercooler and four
valves per cylinder; develops a maximum power of 90 hp "MINI One D"
or 109 hp "MINI Cooper D", depending on whether the turbocharger is
fixed or variable geometry.

The MINI has obtained two
homologations to compete in rally events. A World Rally Car version and a Super
2000 version. Both versions are very similar and have a 1.6 turbo engine and
four-wheel drive, although with certain differences. The S2000 version has a
flange on the turbo that makes it less competitive than the WRC.
